The Bible Column - God's Wonderful Plan For The Believing Sinner

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1&2
It is with great joy in my heart that I write this Bible Column regarding, “God’s Wonderful Plan For The Believing Sinner”. This title takes into account the fact that even though the Born-Again Believer is forgiven, they nevertheless still fail the Lord in their Christian walk and sometimes sin before God! The value of understanding that specific truth, is first that it is true as told in God’s word, and secondly, that it is directive in the Believer’s daily life! Please consider the following aspects of “God’s Wonderful Plan For The Believing Sinner” from Romans chapter 8 and other passages!
In regard to the verses above, we learn that no condemning or adverse eternal sentence of God regarding Hellfire awaits the born again believer. While there will be loss of reward for deeds of wood, hay, and stubble after initial salvation, it remains that when this life is over, the destination of the saved is “to be absent from the body and present with the Lord”. II Corinthians 5:8 Oh, the great peace of heart and mind that these promises of Scripture bring, regarding our life after physical death. The sting of death gives way to the welcome of Heaven.
Also, in verse 2 of Romans 8 above, we learn the wonderful truth that, “…the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” The word free speaks of liberation, and exemption, and a delivery from the two greatest binding things in all of life, namely sin and death. As a result regarding sin, we as believers do not have to sin… (our sin is most times the sin of commission)…because it is possible by the power of the Holy Spirit of God to completely resist sin’s temptation! The Bible tells us that we need to do “all to stand”. Ephesians 6:13 We are free from sin! Then, regarding being free from the law of death, the sting of death is on longer our future portion. For the Believer, physical death is, in the Bible, always stated as “sleep”. I Corinthians 15:51-52; I Thessalonians 4:13-18 The word sleep means, sleeping, repose, taking a rest! The dead body, even though lifeless, and physically dead, will upon the call of God, on the resurrection morning, rise and be caught up to be with the Lord to join soul and spirit before God! I Thessalonians 4:17-18; 5:10-11! This is the “Blessed Hope”.
By comparison, for those who are apart from Christ, sin and death are both used by Satan to imprison and then destroy for all eternity in the Lake of Fire. For them “sin” is a constant foe and, “death” is truly “…everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power; when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe…” 2 Thessalonians 1:8-10
The Good News of The Gospel of Christ, is that each of us can possess God’s spiritual benefits to include being, “free from the law of sin and death,” for our present and eternal good! Where do you stand dear reading friend regarding these today? If you do not presently know the Lord Jesus as your personal Saviour from your sin, you can be saved and forgiven today! “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!” Romans 10:13
Then you can be free indeed!
