The Bible Column - Are You Righteous or Wicked?
“Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord.” Isaiah 26:10
In this passage we read of a song of regathered Israel in the future. Following the Great Tribulation, the Lord God will bring His people Israel together in the 1000 year reign of Christ. It will be a time of worship and rejoicing because it will be known that the Lord Jesus Christ is truly the Messiah. This song of rejoicing will then be sung in exalting the Lord and His ability to over-rule and care for His repentant children.
As a part of this song, there is a contrast between those who are righteous and those who are wicked. In Scripture, the word “wicked” refers to those, who otherwise are religious or not, have not come to God through the blood of a lamb for forgiveness of their personal sin. John the Baptist declared that Christ is the “Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.” John 1:29
Please notice some things about the wicked from the Scripture above. First, even though God shows His favor upon them in their life on this earth, yet they do not learn righteousness. Good health, friends, life, and provision do not cause them to learn righteousness. Second, even in a time like the Millennium, where uprightness prevails, the wicked will still deal unjustly. And thirdly, they will not behold and consider the majesty or the excellency of the Lord. Today, we see this truth manifested on every hand. This is why the Gospel of Christ must continually go out to a lost and dying world. Dear reading friend, how about you? Are you righteous or wicked?
