The Bible Column - Are You Ready for The Rapture?
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a failing away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3
The Bible reveals in this chapter and in the first verse that there is coming a day when every living saint of God will be gathered together unto our dear Lord in Heaven. This truth was previously mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 where the Bible uses the English words “caught up together”. This Greek word “harpadzo” means to seize, to catch away, to pluck, pull, to take by force. From this and the surrounding truths on this event, the word “Rapture” has become to be used to describe this event of “the catching away of the saints”. The word rapture means the state of being carried away with joy. Therefore, according to the Bible, this “catching away” is coming in the future resulting in the saints both living and dead being gathered together unto the Lord in Heaven and from that time on being present with the Lord. This truth was written by the Apostle Paul to bring comfort to the Thessalonian believers. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
In 2020, we live nearly 2000 years after the writing of these sacred words. They have not been fulfilled as yet and so, we as they, await the soon return of the Lord in the “rapture of the church”. I trust that each one reading has come to the Lord Jesus in true repentance and faith and that your sins are under the blood of the Saviour. Tomorrow may be too late!
