Welcome To Rossville Bible Church

The Bible Column - You can know for sure that you are on your way to Heaven

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” Romans 8:16
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the son of God.” I John 5:13
Many dear people know and believe about God, Christ, and the Bible. But when asked if they know that they are ready for Heaven they in reality are not sure. The best that they can conscientiously say is that they “think so”, they “sure hope so”, or that “they are sure doing the best that they can”. Some say that they are a member of a certain religion or church. Some tell of their baptism or taking of the Lord’s Table. Others tell of the war that they were saved out of and still others site a godly parent, grandparent, or family members who were in the ministry or a religious endeavor.
Sadly, however, these honest answers of people do not square with the simple and clear Bible terminology. The words in the verses above tell of an absolute assurance of salvation through the miracle of the new birth and the wonderful presence of the Holy Spirit. No amount of religious works will bring abiding peace in the heart and soul. No amount of “strong faith”, as it is often called, will bring assurance of salvation. No amount of family or church tie will bring confidence of the forgiveness of sin. Only salvation the Bible way will bring the true “bearing witness” of the Holy Spirit “that we are the children of God.”
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
