The Bible Column - Satanic Powers 2018 06 02

“Regard not them that have familiar spirts, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:31
The last phrase of this verse contains the words of a loving God to His dear children. He says, “I am the Lord your God.” These loving words are spoken in the midst of many verses of instruction and commands regarding the way the God of Israel wanted them to conduct their lives. In the present verse the Lord’s people were told not to have anything to do with satanic powers lest they be defiled by them. Then the Lord says, “I am the Lord your God.”
To some, the commands of a holy God may seem too narrow or too confining. But, please notice that God in love wants us to 1) not be defiled and 2) be yielded completely unto Him so he can bless us. Think of the value of being in the pathway of the blessing of the Lord. God our Father seeks our obedience for our blessing and protection.
In Exodus 20 and verses 5 and 6, in the midst of the giving of the Ten Commandments, the Lord declares that He is a jealous God. He judges the unrighteous and shows mercy to those that love and obey Him. The Lord requires our obedience and allegiance. Either we give our homage to Almighty God or we obey the world, the flesh, and the devil. Why not give our allegiance to a loving and holy God.
Sin is an awful thing. Satan is a loveless taskmaster. He spoils and defiles. He damns and destroys. He deceives people throughout their lives until he can take them to Hell for all eternity. He uses pride, riches, position, family pressure, false religion and many other things to cause people to reject the gospel of God’s saving grace through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear reading friend, who are you serving today? One day, many years ago the Lord found me in my sin, and forgave me. Many reading today know of God’s wonderful love and saving grace through Christ. It is a wonderful joy to know the Lord is our God. What about you today? If in your consideration, you are not sure if the Lord is your God, repent of your sin before God and place your faith/trust in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection as the full payment for all of your sin. Call upon the Lord in prayer…ask Him to forgive your sin and save your soul! He is a master of hearing and receiving simple and sincere prayers! YourEternityChoice.com
