The Bible Column - Accountability to God
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:13
The phrase in the verse above “with whom we have to do” is the topic of today’s Bible Column. While the phrase, “with whom we have to do” is not the way, in which, we normally express ourselves in America today, its meaning is nevertheless easily understood. Taken in the context of Scripture in this passage, we understand that it is God that we must deal with and answer to, both now and in the future.
Unlike, the stated thought of many today, the Scripture above tells us that the Lord sees all. And not only does He see all, but each of us, on an individual basis, must give answer to Him for our every thought and action.
I am glad that the Bible tells us of this truth for two reasons. First, we as individuals, because of our fleshly nature, need to know that there is someone to whom we must give account. Secondly, as the Lord tells us beforehand that we must answer to him, we are clearly forewarned of His hand of judgment for setting aside His commands. The God of the Bible is a fair God!
Dear reading friend may you and I take heed to this direction of the Lord today. Our quick response to the Lord’s way will greatly benefit us and will also honor the God who created us!
