The Bible Column - God Still Judges Sin

“…and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.” Micah 1:2b “For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel…” Micah 1:5a
In a past daily devotional reading, Pastor M.H. Reynolds, Jr. focused on the Old Testament book of Micah. As a result of those scriptures and devotional readings, please consider the following study!
In the Scriptures above, the impending judgment upon the Lord’s people is declared by Micah. The reason given for this judgment is that God is a witness against His people because of their transgression and their sins. Then, in the following verses and chapters, Micah identified six specific sins that Israel had committed. 1) He said that they had committed idolatry…they worshipped graven images instead of the Lord God. 2) They had committed immorality…they gave hire to a harlot and worked evil upon their beds. 3) They coveted the fields, houses and heritages of others…they wanted something that God had given to another. 4) They rallied to false prophets that promised peace and good times instead of hearing the true prophets of God, like Micah. 5) They had unjust civil leaders who hated the good, loved the evil, and who behaved themselves ill in their doings. 6) Their religious leaders were also unjust and they did what they did for reward, hire, and money. Their personal gain was their sole motivation.
Sadly, this true Bible story is presently the reality of the general practice of our present society and world. The Lord is still on the throne and He still judges all sin. May each of us yield to the Lord’s way today. Surely, we’ll be glad that we did when we face the Lord in Judgment for the things done in our body…II Corinthians 5:10. What a day that will be!
Then additionally today, we need the present blessing of the Lord. Today, we must not harden our hearts as in the day of provocation. Hebrews 3:8
Would you live for Jesus,
And be always pure and good?
Would you walk with Him,
Within the narrow road?
Would you have Him bear your burden,
Carry all your load?
Let Him have His way with thee!
His power can make you what you ought to be!
His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free!
His love can fill your soul,
And you will see!
‘Twas best for him to have,
His Way With Thee!
