The Bible Column - Reaching Almighty God
“And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” I Peter 5:4
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” I Timothy 2:5
One of the things that makes America great, is the declared constitutional plank of religious freedom. Coupled with that foundation is respect for each other in matters of religion, which do not infringe on another. Most religions of the world hold a central leader. Many times coordinate leaders are held as well. To the faithful of each religion, the leaders are kept in focus on a daily basis. We have heard of some leaders who are not trustworthy and who have brought physical harm and even death to their followers. No wonder sometimes questions are raised about the validity of religion.
The two Bible verses above outline the belief of our church regarding our leader and reaching Almighty God. These Scriptures focus on the God-man, Christ Jesus. The Apostle Peter tells us that the chief Shepherd is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the sinless Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world. John 1:29 Then Timothy, the Apostle Paul’s son in the faith, tells us that the mediator between God and man is the man Christ Jesus. A mediator is one who goes between. As we direct the focus of our attention for salvation and the Christian life, and our prayers, to the Lord Jesus Christ, we reach the Father. In John 14:6 we read “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Clearly, the Bible teaches that no man cometh unto the Father but by the Lord Jesus Christ.
Reaching God the Father is the need of each heart. My prayer is that each reading friend will come to the Father in Heaven through the Lord Jesus Christ. Our present and eternal state depends upon it. Heaven and Hell will be gained or lost by each individual based upon what we do with the Lord Jesus. His finished work on the cross must be received by faith alone for the complete and final payment of our sin. Ephesians 2:8-9 Salvation is gained through repentance of our sin toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 20:21
