The Bible Column - Have You Heard the Voice of God?
“Verily, verily I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.” John 5:25
When the Apostle Paul was saved on the road to Damascus, he heard the voice of the Son of God. In believing that voice he was saved. (Acts 9:4) The men that were with Paul also heard the sound of the voice but did not understand it, hearing only “a voice” (Acts 9:7), but not “the voice of Him” (Acts 22:9). It is possible to hear the Word but not the voice of the Son of God. There are many who have heard the Gospel of Christ but have not heard it as the voice of God to their heart. Dear friend, have you heard the voice of God speaking to you?
In this passage, hearing the voice of the Son of God extends to His return for His saints. When He comes, He will “shout” in call to those believers in Christ to gather in the clouds. But only believers will hear the voice of God. The unsaved will not be able to hear this joyful sound. How only believers can hear this “shout” we do not exactly understand. But, as a radio may not be turned to the station of a particular voice, so only those who are tuned in by the new birth to the station of God will hear the call and rise to meet the Lord.
Someone has said that the voice of God is only heard on the station B-L-O-O-D. While some call Christianity the “slaughterhouse religion”, the Bible says, “and without shedding of blood is no remission”. (Hebrews 9:22) Those who hear the voice of the Son of God in salvation, will also be able to hear the “shout” in the rapture. Have you heard the voice of God in your life?
