The Bible Column - Helping the Helpless (Part 2)
Please refer to the scriptures from last week’s Bible Column in I Thessalonians 5:14 and Matthew 18:1-10. These extended scriptures speak of helping the helpless in our society. While people, who are able in mind and body, need to be active in their own provision, the feebleminded, the weak, and the little children must have our aid and compassion! The word feebleminded in scripture, speaks of those who are emotionally disturbed. The word weak in I Thessalonians 5:14, tells of those who are weak physically, and therefore unable to provide for themselves. We know the words little children tell of those in the beginning of their lives. In reading the Bible, we learn just how important the helpless are to the God of Heaven. Regarding the offender of the little children, the Bible tells us that, “…it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea!” Strong indictment you say? The Holy and Almighty God of Heaven knows the proper charge and sentence for those offenders!
Recently, we have heard and witnessed the law and proposal of law, by some of the expansion of abortion, which is already murder, to now include the killing of a child after their birth! It is beyond thought and words how those child offenders can even propose such a thing! Clearly, these proposals are mostly well beyond the health of the mother!
As I write this Bible Column, a news segment is presently being aired of several attempted abortion survivors, who told their gripping stories of their lives now into young adulthood! Only a barbaric society would dare to propose, promote, and support such extreme cruelty against these little ones! Only the judgment of God awaits this kind of activity! My prayer is that there can be enough outcries of sane and decent people to turn the horrific tides that we face today!
May the Lord be pleased today to grant our nations’ people repentance to the acknowledging of the truth and that we may recover ourselves out of the snare of the devil who are taken captive at his will! II Timothy 2:25-26
