The Bible Column - The Ministry of the Holy Angels

“But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrews 1:13-14
The Scriptures above tell some about the angels of God. The first verse explains that angels have a very different place before God than does His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Never has the Father said to any angel, “Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?”
Angels are not deity in any way. Rather, they are created beings just as humans are. The difference in them and us is that they are celestial (heavenly) beings, while we are terrestrial (earthly) beings. I Corinthians 15:40 Angels were created all at one time and are an innumerable company. Hebrews 12:22 Angels do not die or cease to exist. They will live continually throughout eternity. The Holy Angels will live in obedience to God, and the Unholy Angels, those who kept not their first estate of holiness, (Jude 6) are cast down to hell with Lucifer. II Peter 2:4 Presently, these demons are free to be active in the wicked work of the old Devil.
The blessing of the ministry of the Holy Angels is stated in verse 14 above. We learn that God the Father has sent forth the angels to be ministering spirits for them who shall be heirs of salvation. In the omniscience of God, He created the great host of angelic beings for the express purpose of ministering to those who would call upon the Lord Jesus to be their Savior. So, for the believer in Christ, the angelic hosts, while not worshipped (Colossians 2:18), are working in our behalf, most times in an unseen activity of safety and comfort! Psalms 91:11, Psalms 103:20, Psalms 148:2 Sometimes people wrongly believe the false teaching that angels should be worshipped, because of their wonderful ministry to us. The difference regarding angels is that they are created beings and not deity to be worshipped. Psalms 148:5, Nehemiah 9:6
Clearly, God’s ways are past finding out. We need to rejoice in the Father’s love and watchcare for us today.
