The Bible Column - Listen to God's Word

“And God said, Let there be light and there was light.” Genesis 1:3
In this week’s article of The Bible Column, I want to quote more Scripture than normal. My purpose in this is to allow the Word of God to speak for itself in matters that pertain to current events.
The Scripture above tells us the way in which our natural universe and all of its contents came into being… “God said”, and it was done. In Psalms 33:6&9 we read, “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.”
Imagine the saved cost, saved debate, and saved explanation if each one in our society would simply believe these words of the Bible. Even from a factual point of view…the scientists want facts…no one but Almighty God was there when the world began. So…why not listen to what the only One present has to say about the matter.
Then in Psalm 33 verses 8&10 we read, “Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.” “The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devises of the people of none effect.” In the social matters of our society ranging from murders and sex offenders to financial strategy, we need to let the God of the universe, the God who made us, direct. His eternal wisdom will stand. Our thoughts will come to nought.
A simple plan you say? Even a child can understand! We need to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God so that He may exalt us in due time!
