The Bible Column - Obeying the Voice of God (Part 1)
“…if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments…And all these blessings shall come on thee and overtake thee…” Deuteronomy 28:1-2
These wonderful words give the simple Bible recipe for gaining the blessings of Almighty God. It is a wonderful thing to have the blessing of a parent, a spouse, an employer, a church, or a pastor. It is a great help to have the approval of friends, family and peers. But what each of us really needs is the blessing of Almighty God. The blessing of God far exceeds any benefit that earthly things afford. God’s blessings overtake us.
The blessings of the Lord are eternal. They are right and proper and fitting. They are those things, which make us genuinely happy and content. They are the values that truly meet our every need. These values of God’s blessings are possible because they come from the One who created us and truly knows our frame. Psalms 103:14
The condition then of these blessings, is important for us to know and observe. Without personally meeting God’s condition for His blessings, they can never be ours. The condition is simple. It is available. It is obtainable by each of us including yourself as you read. The condition of God’s blessing is to hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments.
God’s voice and His commandments are found in His Word, the Bible. Personal reading and study of the King James Bible, attending Sunday School and the regular services where the Bible is taught and preached as the center focus, are the means to learn God’s commandments. His commandments extend to every part and aspect of our lives. Only the Bible recipe truly raises to newness of life.
When life is lived the Bible way,

A life of sorrow is this sod.
When life is lived the Bible Way
God’s grace and mercies come each day.
