The Bible Column - Three Things You Ought To Do
“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” Hebrews 2:1
Please continue with me from last week’s article entitled, “Three Things You Ought Not To Do.” Editing the article this week again because of space here, please consider…
“Three Things You Ought To Do”
1. Learn of the pearl of great price, the church the body of Christ… “Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” (Matthew 13:46) In the East some Mohammedans wear a green turban. To them it is a mark of great honor. It shows that they have been to Mecca. We say to you today, “Go to the cross of Christ not for your own honor but for the forgiveness of your sins.” The forgiveness of a Believer’s sin and their changed life unto holiness shows that they have been to the cross. The Lord Jesus Christ gave His own life blood for the church. Through faith by God’s grace we can be a part of His treasured pearl of great price.
2. Be sure you have a place of refuge. If a storm is brewing out on the Atlantic, vessels will make their way to the harbor of refuge from the storm. We need to find refuge in the eternal harbor of life. The storms of life and sin are too great to survive by yourself without eternal salvation and God’s continued help. “For thou hast been….a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm.” Isaiah 25:4
3. Have a place to live in. The young man says he has had plenty of home life with its structure and rules. But after sowing wild oats he realizes that he needs a settled home. We need to know that Heaven is our eternal home. The wild oats of this life are not to be compared with the peace of Heaven’s eternal home… “of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it…for there shall be no night there.” Revelation 21:24
God Asks You Now To, “Decide! Decide!” “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” II Corinthians 6:2
