The Bible Column - Three Things You Ought Not To Do
“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” Hebrews 2:1
In this and the next Bible Column, I desire to edit an article for space here, entitled “Three Things You Ought Not To Do” and “Three Things You Ought To Do”, in life. The analogy in this article is using a known consideration to make a point in spiritual truth. Please consider the first three things today.
“Three Things You Ought Not To Do”
1) Never study astronomy without a telescope. The naked human eye cannot see the universe clearly and detailed enough to know it. Some men try to come to God without viewing him through the Word of God in the Bible. Faith cometh only by hearing of the Word of God. Romans 10:17
2) Never trust in wishing and good intentions. These things have misled many mighty men. Only as a person trusts in Christ’s finished work on the cross of Calvary can eternal salvation and direction be found. Ephesians 1:8 tells us, “Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;”
3) When exploring a mountain, never be your own guide. The terrain of a mountain can cause those who are not familiar to lose their way. Many a young person and older too, want to climb the mountain of life without listening to God, parents, friends, pastors, etc. As we have not passed this way heretofore (Joshua 3:4) we need to be willing to listen to sources that will provide eternal and practical wisdom to us.
Next week, we will consider “Three Things You Ought To Do”. Thanks for reading today!
