The Bible Column - Which of the two paths are you on?
“Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path,…” Psalms 27:11
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12
These Scriptures tell of the two possible ways, according to which, an individual can pattern their lives. The first way is the way of the Lord. The second way is the way that seemeth right unto a person.
Each of these ways has a resulting effect. The way of the Lord is a plain or level path…a path of justice and equity, a right path, a path of peace and tranquility. On the other hand, the way that seemeth right unto a man, has death as its end. Here, the word death speaks of violence, ruin, and pestilence. It speaks of hell and destruction.
Each of us must decide for ourselves which way we are going to live. The Bible tells us that the way of sin is pleasurable for a season but violence is its end. The plain and peaceful path of the Lord’s way is of great present and eternal value by comparison.
There is a Bible question for you and me today. Which way of living have you chosen? I trust that you have chosen the plain path of the Lord.
