The Bible Column - The Blessed Hope
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” I John 3:2-3
The next great event outlined in Bible Prophecy is the return of the Lord for His saints. This event is called “The Blessed Hope” or the “Rapture of the Church”. The words “appear” and “hope” used in the verses above refer to this catching away of the Bride of Christ. The great and blessed hope of the believer is for the Lord Jesus to return to this earth to rescue us from this world of sin and corruption.
Please notice several truths in the verses above. 1) It is possible to know “now” that we are a child of God. 2) It is not completely clear, presently, what our glorified bodies and our condition will be like. 3) But, we will be “like” our Lord. 4) We will see the Lord with our own eyes. 5) This is a purifying hope. 6) The example of purity is our Lord Himself.
It is certain, that as each of us live this life, there will come a day when we will be into eternity. Our destination today is either Heaven or Hell. The wonderful plan of salvation by faith in Christ’s shed blood is God’s plan to save those who believe. Then, when this life is over eternal joy and bliss will be ours. If you have never repented of your sin and received Christ as your personal Saviour, I urge you to call upon his name today! It is the Bible answer. You will be glad you did!
